Falling Stars on Lake Nipissing

My mother grew up in a shack on Lake Nipissing without electricity or running water. She left for Toronto when she was 17. For me, there's something wonderfully unnerving about her childhood environment. It's a place where there may be danger or delight. Some of the geological formations have been there for 175 million years, yet you don't know what might happen in the next instant. I feel a longing to go there in a small boat - maybe a canoe, like my grandfather did.
